Artist in Residence – Sydney Heritage Fleet 2013
The Australian Society of Marine Artists and the Sydney Heritage Fleet had for several years jointly sponsored an Artist-in-Residence program. In 2012, the program was extended to include several lady members of the Society, and I was one of that group. We travelled to the dock in Roselle Bay, or the dock at Darling Harbour, to sketch and paint over several months.
It was a fascinating experience (Hard Hats and Big Boots) to have the freedom to wander around the dock and sketch the historic vessels in various stages of repair and restoration by the wonderful volunteers there. In 2013, all our artwork was displayed in an exhibition on board the the pride of the fleet – the tall ship James Craig moored in Darling Harbour. These are just a few of the sketches I made, and paintings completed later in the comfort of my studio!
